  1. You claim that England hasn’t been invaded in 2,000 years, I count at least three successful conquests of the island since the Romans withdrew 1,500 years ago.

    The Anglo-Saxons in the 5th century.
    Multiple Viking settlements in the 9th century.
    The Normans in the 11th century, which led to the next five kings of England speaking only French.

    And the German reputation you attest to only dates back to the 18th century, when Frederick the Great established the kingdom of Prussia (partially in the Holy Roman Empire), and which formed the core of the post-Napoleon German Empire
