Your statement about The Silmarillion being impossible to read but great read-aloud was a challenge. I enjoy The Silmarillion. I even enjoyed it more than LotR. As I listened to this episode while driving from Georgia to Pennsylvania this past weekend, I decided to give it a shot. I purchased the version on Audible. This was not the one you referenced, but I didn’t see the YouTube link until I came to post this.
It was amazing. I listened to Ainulindalë, Valaquenta, and the first three chapters of The Silmarillion proper. In many ways, it seemed like a book I’d never read before.
